Rich, you are one of the main players here and a significant contributor to my personal net worth in 1999. Thanks!

The final tally in the Roaring Twenty Portfolio that some of us started on another thread in January:

FINAL RESULTS FOR THE 1999 ROARING TWENTY PORTFOLIO

The bottom line is what counts; our $50,000 investment in 20 stocks turned into $132, 838.77 by Friday's close for a 166% gain.

We dumped three of our original stocks, and one replacement was sold before 12/31, leaving three stocks in the final 20 that weren't included at the start.

Here is the final tally, stock by stock (company-chosen by-start price-closing price-% gain):

IATV – Chris Considine – 5 17/32 – 45 11/16 – 726%
DISH – Dale Baker – 13 – 97 ½ - 650%
IFM.TO – White Shoes - 14 – 77 ½ - 454%
CMGI – Dale Baker – 52 ½ – 276 7/8 – 427%
SNE – White Shoes – 70 1/16 – 284 ¾ - 306%
RNWK – Dale Baker – 31 ¾ - 120 5/16 – 279%
PLCM – Dale Baker – 26 1/16 – 63 11/16 – 144%
MFNX – Dale Baker – 22 ¾ - 47 15/16 – 111%
*CNQR – Dale Baker – 15 – 29 – 93%
COGN – White Shoes – 24.31 – 46 1/8 – 90%
PTEC – White Shoes – 8 ¾ - 15 13/16 – 81%
APCC – White Shoes – 25 7/16 – 26 3/8 – 4%
WCOM – Dale Baker – 51 ½ - 53 ½ - 4%
FNDT – Dale Baker – 21 1/8 – 20 ½ - minus 3%
*IPTY – White Shoes – 4 5/16 – 3 15/16 – minus 9%
CC – Dale Baker – 50 1/16 – 45 1/16 – minus 10%
SFAM – White Shoes – 19 5/8 – 12 15/16 – minus 34%
VIRGY – AC Flyer – 7 11/16 – 4 ¼ - minus 45%
CMIV – White Shoes – 5 ¾ - 3 1/16 – minus 47%
*ONEM – Dale Baker – 30 5/8 – 15 – minus 51%

*Not original picks.

It's encouraging that our worst performers were “only” cut in half while the top Roaring Twenty stocks ranged from doubles to an eight-bagger-plus.

Stocks we dropped along the way:

DIGL – Dale Baker – 400% (we were in for half of that late in the year)
LCOS – White Shoes? – 180%
IACO – Dale Baker – out flat in a buyout
MXTR – Dale Baker – minus 60%

I am not starting a Roaring Twenty 2000 contest this year. If I had to toss in some picks from my current portfolio I would include NSATF, BTGC, OPAY, CRY.TO, IDC, SGNT and LDP.

Thanks again for everyone's participation. If I had bought and held this portfolio instead of trading actively, my own portfolio would have finished an extra +16% YTD.

I will maintain the portfolio and see where it goes in 2000. IATV and IFM.TO look like they could still appreciate significantly.

All the best in 2000.

Congrats, Rich, Dale and all.

Happy New Millenium. <vbg>

I survived the night of partying in
Cabo, had one of my best weeks in
the market while I was gone, and played
the best round of golf I ever played at
Cabo Real. A great way to end an incredible
year.

Rich, I played the front 1 over. <vvbg>
