My 486 came up 1/4/1980. Reset the date manually in Win95 and it's ok, even after a reboot.

to anyone having probs with win98 hanging on shutdown...

i came across this workaround while trying to help someone. i have not used it (i don't have the hang), but i've read that it works. anyone trying it and can vouch for its validity, please let me know. here it is:

"I have that problem on one of my machines. I,too have been unable to solve it. Here's a work-around. Create a new shortcut on the desktop, Name it "ExitWindows". Right click the icon, click on properties, and in the box named "Target" type the following line.

C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE user.exe,exitwindows

In the box "Start In", type C:\WINDOWS, then save it.

To exit, just double click the icon. It works for me."
