Global sales of PCs continue to amaze semibiznews.com But IDC says shortage of some chips puts some constraints on PC supply FRAMINGHAM, MASS.--There were a dozen good reasons why PC unit sales weren't going to be all that good this holiday season-everything from Y2K, a DRAM shortage, to the growing sales of web devices. Forget about them. Unit volume in the worldwide PC market in the fourth quarter is expected to grow 17% over the fourth quarter last year, according by International Data Corp. (IDC).
