Offering branded Web sites in areas such as personal finance, Web searching, commerce, and games, Go2Net's collection of Web destinations includes Silicon Investor (financial discussions), MetaCrawler and Dogpile (search services), and HyperMart (free Web hosting). The sites can be accessed through the Go2Net portal and are all technology-driven. The company generates more than 70% of its revenue from advertising, but it also makes money through subscription services on the Silicon Investor and HyperMart Web sites, e-commerce, and licensing its Web technology. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's Vulcan Ventures owns about one-third of Go2Net.
