US Y2k Money Stash to Be Used in 2000

biz.yahoo.com

It often seems that very few people--even very few economists--understand money. I don't think the Fed Reserve can "print" any money. That function--which is just an implementational formality--is done by a part of the Treasury (the Bureau of engraving I think).

What the Fed can do is create the obligation in the first place. That does matter and inevitably will lead to inflation. I wonder whether anyone will ever press Alan Greenspan on why the Fed found to necessary to add $10 bill a day to banking reserves in the days leading up to Y2k?
