Hell again Guy

Thanks for your information about your channel analysis. I am surprised by one thing you said and confused by another.

Again, we were discussing when JDSU broke through the top of its channel very late October. I am surprised in the assignment of likelyhood in the three scenarios you describe, namely headfake less likely than new channel on top of old with same slope less likely than breakout. Is breakout more likely than headfake because the stock is channeling upward rather than being stuck in a trading range between some levels of support? I normally think temporarily oversold or overbought conditions (is this what you mean by headfakes)
as a common occurence form manipulation, news, expiration dates etc. and would me more common than breakouts since we are all looking for this.

My confusion is scenario #2 when new channel with same slope forms. No comprendo. If slope is same how do you know there is a new channel? If there is a new evaluation with the dame growth rate, what TA or FA do you to determine this and similarly what helps you discern headfakes from new channel breakouts? Is there anything you would have done differently for this episode with JDSU in looking back at it now?

TIA
