swiss, I'm curious about your post. Doesn't Schwab send you and the IRS an end of year 1099 listing all of your sales, and a listing to you of all of your purchases? As for old fashioned EXCEL, if you can get a text file of all of your trades, you can import the data and then manipulate it. It's still work, but it beats typing in hundreds of entries. Dan

RE: Etrade buy/sell transaction capture. Here are the steps to do an Etrade Data Import: 1) Display Activity; Check Date Range,Select Range 2) Copy (right click, select "copy") 3) Paste into a new WORD document. Save as TXT ONLY file XXX. NOTE: You must do this step, because a direct paste to excel will not work correctly. Try it for yourself. 4) Excel - Start with a New workbook; Open TXT ONLY file XXX; Folow Delimit Prompts, Verify Cell Breaks! Select FINISH. VOILA! 5) Cleanup - Minor, Remove bad lines; Adjust/Pos Amts on Sales, Delete Bad Lines, Remove Dead Columns Now you have captured all your buy/sells. NOTE: You will still need to adjust for splits and acquisitions, but the grunt work of manual retyping is avoided. buck PS I have similar but different procedures for Datek and Waterhouse. Etrade also supposedly has direct load feature for Quicken and Money, but my initial experience w/Money import left me concerned about this. Will try in 2000.
