Excuse me, could you tell me who "Wireless Researcher" is?

This sounds more like hype for a stock with potential than fact about the actual situation as regards CDMA events.

The push for W-CDMA is by those very players that want to keep TDMA.....or had you noticed?
Japan has the leading CDMA market right now, and has elected to use its OWN home-grown W-CDMA.....that is nice, and obviously there are concessions to their native technology in doing this. However, HDR by Q from my previous studies is superior to W-CDMA in both transmission rate, and band usage for transmission.

This report being quoted is glossing over some extremely cloudy areas, and attributing to IDC the obviously desirable outcome, while ignoring the tremendous pressure to go with the best technology while the change is in progress.......the revenues for bit transmission will ultimately win if the best technology is implemented, delivering the most bits in the shortest time with the least transmission bandwidth being used.

The tone of the report is cheap, to put it bluntly. I must say I am more full of doubt after reading it than before reading it! Are there any more substantial reports with greater attention to specific IPR and how they fit into the picture? And please forgive my skepticism, I have seen this sort of coattail riding before, and momentum players on tech stocks are quite often short their homework papers.
Just the facts, please, let them speak for themselves.

I see some very important TDMA patents for IDC, and some well deserved wins in court ought to be forthcoming, but to leverage that out into 2003 or 2004 for revenue from 3G is going to take more nerve than wisdom. I question the future of 3G and W-CDMA more from the aspect of technology than politics, so let the replies dwell more on the HDR from QCOM vs W-CDMA and then let us see where the politics might take us.....none of the entrenched players want Q to have anything more than the very least they can give them, and stooping to promote another company with potential is not unheard of, just for the sake of fud. Sure, if NOK and ERICCY had their way, W-CDMA will win, but if they had their way, CDMA would not exist, and patents belonging to IDC will never receive remuneration.
