How about simply because no company, including PSFT, has an overwhelming market position. PSFT might have this in HR

PSFT has this in HR, and that is why it remains (currently) on the W&W list.

but that is only a part of their overall business and they have a lot of competition on other fronts.

Do INTC, MSFT, CSCO, or the Q dominate all aspects of their businesses? I don't believe that dominating all aspects is a requirement to be a gorilla or king. At least, not according the the FM!

Thomas, you took the words right out of my mouth. It seems to me that PSFT, SAP, and ORCL have slugged it out in the ERP market and no one is the winner. There is no Gorilla and the game is getting more and more a battle of Princes.

I have no numbers to back this up, just my day to day experience in the marketplace.
