Bolsa up for 4th day with foreign cash
Bloomberg Business News

MEXICO CITY -- Mexican shares rose Wednesday for a fourth day as confidence that consumer-led economic growth will boost company profits enticed foreigners to pump money into stocks.

"We're seeing more investment flows from foreigners toward Mexico," said Iker Laresgoite, chief trader with Invermexico Casa de Bolsa.

The bolsa index rose 21.91, or 0.5 percent, to 4,787.35 in seesaw trading.

Some investors may have pulled back at the end of the day because today is Constitution Day, a national holiday. With Asian economic problems causing market turbulence, many investors may hesitate to be stuck in Mexican stocks for a day while other indexes are trading, Laresgoite said.

Silver producer Industrias Penoles led gainers. The company soared 15 percent to 38.75 pesos after silver prices hit a nine-year high.

Penoles is the world's largest silver producer and derives about a third of its revenue from silver, said analyst Christopher Albi of Valores Finamex brokerage.

Consumer stocks also fared well on expectations that increased worker buying power will drive Mexican economic growth of 5 percent, one of the highest levels in Latin America.

Computer wholesaler Datacapital climbed 6.8 percent to 12 pesos.
