bb, thanks for posting the old/new dow chart! Interesting relationship there... Charts of intc, msft, and ge looking a bit toppy(er?)... Think msft will fill the gap at 109?

It's interesting that almost half of the Dow's move off of the October lows can be attributed to the addition of the three stocks: 655 points out of a 1500 point move.

the problem with that analysis is that the act of "unbundleing" those stocks from the index caused them to lose market cap due to index fund purchasing/selling. Had the old dow stocks remained components, I suspect the decline would have been somewhat mitigated.
