Give him the right question and he'll run with it. That was a terrific job of doing exactly what I was seeking and should go down as one of the best posts on this thread. It is literally a map of the future. You must have savored responding. I know my people and I know how to get them cooking.

I only suggested the FCO because as you mention through architectures like IFITL BOCs which already have property and equipment in COs can gradually phase out the old equipment and phase in the fiber support as the system develops at a minimum cost. The FCO can be supported with mini-FCOs as the system penetrates. How else can a telco implement a fiber strategy? More expensively. Can't rest too much on wireless virtuality although we hear much pretending going on there.

The telcos are saying through these efforts that DSL is at best an interim solution and is neither a robust nor complete solution. Neither is HFC although it is better right out of the box. Only Pure will do and it is Att and their pseudo-Pure that is forcing BOCs to get with the winning strategy.

Maybe we can get some others to demonstrate what consequence this has for OA. To say the least it renders it moot.
