Harry, nice report about Gates on Larry King Live, thanks. Would you or anyone else happen to know if it's scheduled for a repeat anywhere? I'll look myself too.

There is no question in my mind that it took the two very powerful companies, Microsoft and Intel to ultimately create a product situation where everyone that wanted one could afford to buy a "standard" PC. TI, Compaq, National, Motorola, Zilog and others all failed from the hardware side, as did IBM and Apple on the software side.

Tony

Re: Gates interview

It was a fine PR piece for MSFT but it was a "creampuff" interview. King pretty much admitted that he hadn't a clue about technology and pitched one softball after another. The flow seemed to be two minutes of "interview" followed by a commercial break so there was no real continuity to the process. I'd be surprised if there was as much as 30 minutes of real material in the hour show.

It certainly did no harm but as a longtime MSFT shareholder I'd be surprised if it changed anyone's opinions about MSFT.

Dear Mr Sharp:

"Bill did good! He came across as a regular likeable guy, not
the ruthless robber-baron the DOJ would make him out to be.
He took the high road when asked ..."

But of course, this is what we've seen before and come to expect of Bill. The "richest man in the world" is our friend working hard every day to create the best software, meeting the needs of consumers, and fulfill his charitable goals, including eradicating polio across the globe. For MSFT longs it was great PR.

Filmed at MSFT studios in Redmond, this was a brilliant move.

Bless You Larry King. Bless You CNN. Bless You Bill Gates.
God Bless America!

God Bless Microsoft!
