That is true what you said. LU went to 73 from 83 on the basis of caution from their management. But if you look at their long term performance of earnings, you can only conclude that LU is among the few that have met and exceeded targets consistently. In the US, I am aware that we trade on quarterly earnings and base a corporations whole
future by that last income statement; that however only leads to whipsaws and negative P&L for short term players.
For the wider public to play this game syccessfully is essentially identify a positive longterm growth company like LU and buy on bad news and take gains on good news.

As far as the Fed: every Tom and Dick knows or expects 2 Fed tightenings to come in the winter. It will not be a big surprise. More, the Fed is tightening in the face of little or no inflation (depending on the index) as an innoculation of sorts. That will only help keep inflation
away. That act in itself is actually bullish for the equity markets. Since the value of future earnings will not
be depreciated as a result of monetary policy. I refer you
to the 6 tightenings ending 2/95, from which this massive equity rally started.
