Agreed.

The critical system and imbedded chip scenarios look good, but tomorrow morning we will see how well the non-critical and non-remediated sector fares. Very likely there will be hits here, so the question remains - how many and how bad.

As well, watch for problems from the mainframe batch world when first weekly and monthly runs of the new year are done.

Finally, Feb 29 may bring out a special set of problems based on the 400 year rule for leap years.

It should be interesting to see how these will be dealt with - fix on failure, replace on failure, or retire on failure. Large mainframe shops may not have any choice but to fix, while the DOS/Windows crowd will probably bite the bullet and replace or retire.

By March 15, the last note shall sound from the F. L. and we can all go home. (at least for a while before we start working on the year 2038 problem)
