Hi, dear! Even though it is wonderful that they grow up, it is hard not to miss those great days of early childhood--especially in retrospect, when the moments when they were sick or just plain exasperating don't intrude. My mother would sometimes take out photos of me when I was a toddler after I had visited her. She enjoyed the contrast.

Think, though: The time is not too far ahead when you will have grandchildren to hold while they wiggle in your lap.

I know exactly what you are talking about when you see a toddler who reminds you of your own at that age, Penni. It really is a physical ache. I remember the way my daughter's little head cuddled into my shoulder, the way her hair felt, every detail of her little adorable darling soft 100% cotton play clothes, white leather toddler shoes with blue trim from France so she would have perfect feet . . . I want so much to bring back time when I am reminded of all this.

Ha, ha, the joke's on me at the moment!! Now she wears the most dreadful Sketcher heavy black boots and just rolls her eyes when I talk about the importance of high quality, flexible soles and proper fit. And the very first thing she did when she started getting a big clothing allowance was go out and buy polyester blends. I told her that her skin would not breathe, and indeed she walked around like a middle-aged woman having hot flashes in them. I wonder when the rebellion will be over?

We did both have excellent opportunities to buy Qualcomm, Penni, as you may remember from the extremely distant past. Well, at least we were aware of it. I did go out and purchase several hundred more shares of IPIC a few weeks ago, but I am not sure if you still own any. I do, bought at $37.50 a few years back, so I am averaging down, a concept I consider quite macho, cool and all that.

I think the thing about breast feeding might be just a little bit about a baby's needs being immediate. Older children and grown men may be jealous in a certain, subconscious way about this, since they have had to learn delayed gratification. And you are right about the breast being such a sexual object in America. The other thing about this is that even when you cannot see any part of the breast, the act itself is so intimate that perhaps it embarrasses people because of that. You don't know where to look, or something.

Please let me know when you are going to be on Oprah! I am sure it will be soon. I will take the day off work to watch it live.
