Corran Horn 'Tis the story of the life of one of thine number. 'Tis the story of the life of Corran Horn. It all started long ago. In the ages after the coming of the Avatar and after the founding of the Kingdom of Britannia. In the city of Vesper the Horn family that resided by the forest. The mother, Joan Horn, was a famous cook and a fair seamstress. The father, Robert Horn, was a dashing and daring warrior who made his fortune and fame fighting the orcs and trolls of the area. He was a member of the militia and a part time adventurer. During the summer months the orcs and trolls and other vile creatures would come out of the forest and mountains to attack and attempt to raid and destroy the villages of man. In one of these raids they sacked and burned the part of Vesper that was not on the islands. The Horn residence was one of the houses destroyed. In the confusion and devastation Joan Horn gave her life to defend the one of her young son. Robert came upon the scene and saw his dead wife and the destroyed home. He heard a faint crying and found his son buried in the cellar, hidden there by his mother while she fought to buy time for the militia to rescue her son. Robert was the first to sign up when the militia was called upon to go into the vile pit known as Covetous and rid the area of this filth once and for all. Alas it was not to be. The militia advanced and killed vile creatures in numbers so high as to be beyond counting. But for every creature that fell another took its place. Their numbers grew as the militia was slowly sliced to ribbons. The few who escaped told tales of ambushes and rearguard actions. Of desperate courage and despair. Robert Horn was not amongst the survivors. He gave his life so that a squad of fellow troops could escape. Alone Corran was taken care of by his elderly grandparents. There he learned to cook, and to fight. When he was 18 his grandfather past away and Corran was totally alone. For a year he wandered the land, improving his skills and meeting new races. Killing unspeakable evil and suffering at the hands of his fellow men. But something guided his soul back to his body every time he died. He found a friend, Krait, while out hunting and together they planned to form a guild to protect Vesper and Minoc. But Corran took ill and for weeks could do nothing. By the time he had recovered, the infant guild had been effectively destroyed. He later joined the guild that his friend founded. But this guild was small and was soon absorbed into a larger guild. This guild was large and powerful, but as Corran soon learned, also corrupt and petty. He had a falling out with his superiors over moral issues and resigned. Later he learned that the corrupt leaders had slaughtered his friends in the rank and file and he was justified in leaving when he did. He then went rouge as before and was a maverick. Taking no orders and trying to be a speck of light in the dark shadows. But he realized that there HAD to be a guild of people who thought as he did, who followed the same beliefs. So he went to taverns and talked with old men who told him of a guild of true paladins in Trinsic. Corran decide to go there and having learned the powers of magic decided he might be an asset to them. He arrived and was promptly examined and accepted. Truly much has changed. In 4 years he had gone from a child of ignorance to a powerful warrior/mage. He never forgot his father and mother however. He hast sworn the end the evils that plague the land in their memory and to help establish a solid, just, and powerful government to help remove all threats the humanity so that none must suffer as he has. To most he is warm and welcoming, but tread lightly around him for underneath the surface is a festering hatred of murderers and thieves and all creatures who would do humans harm. destard.com
