RE: $1000 QCOM; the analyst Piecyk(sp?) came out with the Millenium price target on the morning of the 29th, and since then, I have heard nothing from the financial press/media but that this prediction alone caused the $150+ runup that day, and has driven the stock price even further since.
What of other, much more significant influences; the China announcement, regarding contracts to be let to manufacturer CDMA equipment came out just before the analyst's comments;(IJ had not factored in any expected revenues from China). Voltaire and Floor Trader had clearly deliniated the pressure on the shorts going into the split; and what of the upward pressure of the impending split itself, as well as the year end recounting of QCOM as the top percentage gainer?
I just don't like to see "credit" given to the anal-ysts for a strong price movement on the stock, as I know to well, from experience, that those on the street that give, can easily use this perceived influence to jerk the stock price around, any time they want, and always for their own trading/positioning purposes.
Remember Mark Roberts downgrade this past Fall on the component shortage?
QCOM management should get the "credit", they did the heavy lifting, not the whores on the street, nor the financial "journalists" HA!
Good thing that SI readers give little credence to the likes of these; freedom from FUD!
Regards
James

To all -- X-Files tonight is a real good episode (according to my wife).

It is a repeat of one from last year. (I missed it then).

If you don't like it -- blame my wife !

Jon.
