Response from NETP on Form 144 Vulcan Ventures (Paul Allen's) sales. I undertook to write to the company to ask (a) how many shares had been sold or prepared for sale and (b) for what reason. I then reported I had not received a response. Today I received a courteous response from the company. They had noticed my post on Raging Bull and it alerted them to the fact that their e-mail system was faulty.

In their response they did not answer question (a). With respect to question (b) they stressed that they do not comment on the sales of any private shareholder including their largest but pointed out that some of the early venture capitalists, like Vulcan Ventures, had bought shares at 50 cents, so that a sales price of $29 represented a huge capital gains. They gave the following assurance: "I can tell you this for sure: Their selling had absolutely nothing to do with any guidance we have given them concerning the direction of the business. Neither I nor any of our senior officers has been in touch
with the folks at Vulcan in the recent past".

This give some support to my belief that Vulcan Ventures may have been selling (a) to satisfy their own regulations (b) to cover the cost of their original investment and costs. The sales represented approx. 10% of their holdings leaving them with about two million shares.
