I did not mean to imply that conservatives were trying to take over the thread. There were always some conservatives here. I did mean to imply that there is a group here who is relatively new, and there have been a lot of posts by some of their members where it seems that it is taken for granted that the conservative view of life is correct. I have heard that this all started on the Sanity thread, but have never visited there, and am uninterested in spending much time investigating the origin. I would simply reiterate that this is not a predominantly conservative thread, and do not wish it to become an ideological battleground where liberals/pagans/atheists/free thinkers, etc. are routinely attacked simply for being themselves. There are plenty of threads at SI for conservatives/reactionaries/Bill Clinton haters to hang out at, and there is no need to make this thread another one.

I think assuming conservatism is is superior is just as boring as presuming that a liberal view of life is correct, and prefer interesting discussions about issues. It does disturb me when Daniel Schuh and Cobalt Blue are attacked. I also find one-line posts simply tedious, and quickly come to the conclusion that the people who write them have no real ideas to share.
