Fed refrains from 9:30 a.m. open market operations
NEW YORK, Jan 3 (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve confirmed on Monday it refrained from its regular 9:30 a.m. open market operations.

Earlier in the session, the Fed added $8.990 billion in temporary reserves to the banking system through a round of overnight system repurchase agreements.

In early dealings, federal funds were trading at 5-3/4 percent, according to Garban-Intercapital, above the Fed's 5-1/2 percent target for the rate.
