U.S. debt futures open lower, T-bond sets new low

Jan 3 - U.S. debt futures opened sharply lower Monday, with the March T-bond hitting a fresh contract low at 89-28/32. Selling by investors who had parked money in what they considered to be safety of bonds ahead of the new year pressured contracts, traders said. The March T-bond dropped more than a full point, taking out the previous contract low of 90-07/32, set overnight, and broke support near 90-05/32 and 90-00. Further support is seen near 89-22/32, with intraday resistance near 90-10/32.
