UMC GROUP Y2K Status Report

The UMC Group has taken a pro-active and leading position in solving Y2K problem. All of the system and equipments had been finished with their Y2K resolution. All fab of the UMC Group also set up task forces for Y2K coordination and emergency so as to minimize the potential disorder and ensure proper and efficient response to any Y2K event.

All equipments are under standard testing procedures. There are no Y2K events so far. NFI is fine too.

All equipments & system are retested OK. There are no Y2K events so far and NFI back to normal production.


1/1 06:00

All equipments and system were finished complete Y2K test. All fabs in Hsin Chu are shutdown for yearly maintenance. NFI is in production stage without Y2K events.


1/2 09:00
All fabs in Hsin Chu are completed the yearly maintenance in schedule . Facility infrastructure had restarted . And FAB5A , FAB6A are going production ahead of schedule .


1/3 10:00

The third day of the new millennium , UMC Group's business systems continue to perform normally . And all Fabs are operating as expected.UMC Group successfully meet the Y2K Transition .
