Patricia,

I always appreciate your good natured comments, and admire your consistently seeing the best in people. But this site is about investing, and investing is a cutthroat world.

Advising people to follow 'alerts' without any due diligence, discussion, fundamental analysis, or contrary opinion is absolutely ludicrous. It would be a shame for people to realize this only after it is too late.

SI is in business to make money, just like everybody else. If they set up private forums (akin to Yahoo's clubs), it will not be because they condone such things, but to be able to sucessfully compete in this area.

Maybe you can explain to me why the 'rules' don't allow people to post in code, offer their own picks, or post on other threads. Why is it that people are now instructed to follow the 'alerts' blindly without any form of due diligence?

In all those coded messages, have you ever received any indication that picks are based on anything but rumor? Have P/Es ever been mentioned? Earnings growth? Why was COMS selected for a day trade? PAIR? If SAPE was going to quadruple, why was it recommend to others but not participated in by the picker?

An objective view of what is happening here raises many questions that only those outside of this selective group seem to notice.

Help me understand....
