Yes, I think Q and Lucent are working together on determination of a cell call location. Also, Q and many others are working on chipsets with GPS for handsets.

<OT>On pinpointing cell calls, this is a US federal mandate by Oct 2001. A company called US Wireless (USWC) is making progress on this, as well as a number of others I imagine. I believe USWC is working with Nortell but I don't have my notes in front of me to be sure. Recent press releases can give you more info.

I thought Qcom solved the 911 Problem. Qcom's new chip, which if I recall correctly, will be shipped in March, has GPS capablity. Check the press releases at the company's website or do a search on the thread.
