This system features Image Systems' AMLCD monitors in its operation. Image Systems had the opportunity to deliver display hardware for this advanced-state-of-the-art Datalink Delivery Taxi Clearance System developed by ARINC, Inc. of Annapolis, Maryland and Northwest Airlines. The first installation went operational in the Detroit-Wayne County, International Michigan Airport on Monday, December 20, 1999 at the Northwest Ramp Control Tower and the FAA ATC Tower. The Northwest Ramp Control implements one high bright flat panel monitor and one Hewlett Packard workstation. The ATC Tower utilizes four flat panels and three Hewlett Packard workstations with communications via Datalink to airline Ramp Control Centers. ``The Datalink Airport Surface Management System (ASMS) pushback and expected taxi clearances will expedite airline departures and gate arrivals to reduce aviation fuel costs by shortening the time the engines are running,' said Kirk Davidson, Manager of Flight Technical Programs for Northwest Airlines. ``It was gratifying to arrive at the Detroit Airport on one of the first airplanes receiving clearances via the ASMS,' said George Tkach, Manager of Government Sector at Image Systems. Image Systems' monitors are now used in other air traffic control applications, including Raytheon's STARS, Computer Science's Departure Sequencing Program, Naval Air Systems Tower Control, and Raytheon's ASDE X System. ``Except for the historical information contained herein, this news release contains forward looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties, including timely development, acceptance and pricing of new products, successful signing and retention of system integrators and OEM partners and their performance in the marketplace, and general economic conditions as they affect the Company's customers, as well as the other risks detailed from time to time in the Company's SEC reports.'
