Scott yes you have to hold the stock or its like shorting but worse

since you don't get the immediate full value of the stock sale but only the option premium.

Since for the leap you have to hold the stock, it doesn't make sense if you are determined to sell. In that case selling a short term call that will get exercised is better.

A good article on the personalization of e-commerce.

Can Novell move NDS (eDirectory) into this space with it's iChain software? Can it leverage the ability to store information about users thru the Directory into a platform or framework like BroadVision or net.Genesis Corp's products?

At the levels these sites are spending ($150k+) for this type of filtering/data mining technologies - Novell could stand to benefit. Having a mature and stable product like NDS to build on is a great start.

Problem I'm looking at is many of the upcoming sites utilizing this technology DON'T have legacy networks (meaning there's no Novell on their internal network) so there's a barrier for Novell to jump. They don't have an inside track into these new startups.

Of course using XML to integrate with these existing
products would do well for Novell as well :)

Also - <<... a group of software developers hope the new Customer Profile Exchange standard will make a difference by defining a unified customer view that can be applied within an enterprise and across multiple enterprises. CPEX is a group of business software developers that's designing a uniform standard for customer-centric software programs to "talk" to one another and share customer profiles.>>

This is just SCREAMING digitalme - is anyone at Novell listening?!?!?!
