Hi Don Green; Re the Samsung news report. Everybody in the memory industry knows that Samsung wants RDRAM to succeed. Samsung's 50% figure is a joke.

Engineers want to use parts that are used by other engineers. The reason is to avoid ending up designing in an "orphan" part. Samsung is going to do everything they can to make it look like RDRAM is the wave of the future, including giving out exaggerated marketing forecasts, and putting out whatever kind of press release that will further that cause. No question, as I have posted several times before, Samsung is a big buddy of Rambus right now, and the reason is that Samsung has a lead on the other memory makers in that technology.

The majority of the memory makers are running away from Rambus as fast as they can. Try calling up a Micron memory sales engineer (not one of the guys who deals with mom and pop when they want to upgrade their memory, but an applications sales engineer) and find out what they are suggesting for the future.
