AOL's action today could be seen as the first rumble of a buying stampede. AOL exhibited very significant price change on significant volume. The price rose more than two standard deviations above the average price change for the past month (i.e., a lot) and did so on volume of about 32 million+ shares, over one standard deviation above the average volume for the past month of about 23 million shares per day. Just guessing but I would say that finishes off the recent short-term downtrend. Technically, to qualify as a buying stampede, we would need to see another day sometime this week of more or less equal price movement and volume. That would make 100 do-able by earnings in Mid-January.
