Hi John:

Wouldn't be too surprising if we get a couple of 5 million volume days over the next little while! I agree that old highs need to be taken out on large volumes to be convincing!

When tech stocks start to run, they often overshoot even optimistic targets. Hopefully AMD has started its run today and can be added, down the road, to that stable of tech stocks that outperform even what seem like optimistic targets.

As Bilow pointed out, there are similarities between AMD technicals and fundamentals and those of TXN in 1995. Those who caught TXN in Mar. '95 have done very well. My guess is those who catch AMD below $38 will do exceedingly well in Y2000.

Hi again John:

Looks like AMD's outstanding fundamentals will have to weather the negative market risk associated with the aftermath of yesterday's adverse move in the bond market which seems to have dampened most markets world wide. Profit taking in the New Year also seems to be a negative influence on markets.

Hopefully, a partial retracement in 30 year bond rate this morning and the decline in both oil and gold prices will act as a deterrant in what is likely to be a significant sell off in the first hour in New York today.

No doubt, today is destined to be another volatile outing! Let's hope AMD bucks the trend again today as it did yesterday. If AMD's fundamentals are the investor's decision point, no doubt AMD will hold its own today.

I would argue that anticipated general market weakness in the first hour today just might provide the investor with an additional opportunity to purchase AMD at or around $31. Such opportunities are evanescent, imho!
