I have returned to save the bears from themselves. <g> You must make some money so that your spouses will not leave you all.

Here is a nice conservative arbitrage deal for you conservative fellas. Take home a potential 7% return for 2 months of invested capital on a baby bell acquisition. BEL acquiring GTE at a 1.22 ratio. Deal expected to close in Q1 2000. Current issues contributing to discount at this time include delay in FCC approval (deal pending for over 1 year) while GTE gets the FCC to accept its plan to dispose of certain internet and long distance assets. Another issue, AT&T fighting with BEL over NY state long distance.

If you are conservative, then go long GTE and short BEL. If you are player like me ;-) then you should just go long on GTE and maybe buy some BEL Feb 55 puts for insurance. GTE is strong enough to stand on its own legs if the deal falls apart. How else will you make money???

mythster, it took them 4 months to get a market cap increase of $4.5 billion or about 800%. what a slow growth stock! ;-)

i hope they can sustain the type of losses required to support this type of hypervaluation. -ng-
