That might have been me, t2. In the July CC, Dr. J announced the fab at Nepean would approximately double capacity and one of the constraints on the coming quarters would be the normal disruption associated with a ramp of that much new capacity, training of new employees and other G&A distortions. But Dr. J is a master executive, a maestro on the operations side. Those in JDS long before I (I presume Glenn, Kent and Pat, among others) can attest that JDS has been blowing the cover off estimates since the winter/spring 1998, and apparently the add-on to capacity has gone smoothly. The passive components side has been leading the (no slouch itself) active components side since before the merger. It will be interesting to see if the growth mix has changed at all.

I hope my comments are NOT misinterpreted, as I am trying to amass as many shares as possible of JDSU.

However, the timing of the announcement has me a little baffled. Why did they not announce a 4 to 1 split rather than two back to back 2- splits??

Could the earnings perhaps NOT meet expectations and the second split announcement therefore is simply a way of cushioning the drop if that were the case???
