INPR news: it's a linux play...

Basically, INPR is jumping on the open source game (a la Linux and Netscape) and will offer their relational database product on Linux. Boring, IMHO, but it has that magic word: Linux.

"Inprise Corporation (Nasdaq: INPR, news, msgs) today announced that it is jumping to the forefront of the Linux database market by open-sourcing the beta version of InterBase 6, the new version of its SQL database. InterBase will be released in open-source form for multiple platforms, including Linux, Windows NT, and Solaris. "

Max,

The news anounces InterBase which is a SQL database that will run on Linux, Solaris, and NT. I am trying to remember who else has a sql database for linux, and they are not coming to mind right now. In any case the big boys in database are Oracle, MSFT, and IBM. None of them run on Linux at the moment. How many copies will they sell for Linux??? No way to tell. But it is not a BS pr.

Not sure I would buy at 16+ AH with the market the way it is.

Take a look at NWLL. It traded as high as 28 AH and is down to 16 -17 range. Schwab AH is down or I would take a bite here. They are opening an internet service and web sites in china.
