The "logic" of the CPQ-CMGI relationship is that CMGI has gone up 400% while, counting today's big jump, COMPAQ has gone up about 7% since CMGI acquired Alta Vista by issuing COMPAQ some of its paper. Or put another way, COMPAQ is now down only 40% on its twelve months and CMGI is up - what 2,000%? (Those in the know please adjust the figures -the disparity is so great the details are unimportant).

So it would seem more logical that CMGI acquired COMPAQ with CMGI paper - and then set about getting COMPAQ shareholders a better return on their investment than Rosen and his various managers has been able to do.
