Skeeter,

I'm concerned about the overall market too. Especially when I see the popular indices heading up into the stratosphere while the broader ones are heading down :-(

But regarding Ligand, I think the earnings hype has largely gone away. I regard Targretin as *real* and so are the other two drugs for that matter. Moreover, even in a bear market, new drugs should do alright since people will continue to get sick. They may not spend all that much money shopping on the web for luxuries, but given the demographics of the population, they'll shop for drugs to cure the ills that follow aging.

By the way, I liked the Cornerstone piece you referred to. And I was amused that although they thoroughly trashed Amazon.Com, they also carried their banner ad on one of the pages! Actually, Amazon.Com is one of the best web companies I can think of and I buy a lot from them. Generally, I buy hard to find scientific titles there. The run-of-the-mill stuff I get at a local Barnes and Noble because they also serve coffee... And I can read the ending of the book before I buy it; that way I have some idea if it is going to be good :-)

Thanks, Torben
