Paul, Re: "If This happened to Intel - instead of Cisco - Intel's stock would DROP $20 - But Cisco keeps going
UP !"

No doubt, being Cisco, they'll assume it's to do with a much higher degree of difficulty (read: what they don't understand) than that easy stuff Intel makes, and should never, ever be screwed up. Cisco: it's nice to be unfathomable to the average analyst. You can get away with murder. Also, Cisco walks on water, they all think. As a Cisco stockholder, though, looks like they're doing the right thing. They do have a strong "Customer Advocacy" department, and Chambers is very customer oriented.

Tony

Tech stocks, on the other hand, rallied, boosted by the belief that firms
would have more resources at their disposal, now that the Y2K threat has
receded. Tech stocks leading on the Dow included Hewlett-Packard (HWP:
NYSE)), which rose 3 11/16 to 117 7/16. IBM (IBM: NYSE) climbed 8 1/8 to 116
and Intel (INTC: NASDAQ) gained 3 3/16 to 122 13/16.

In today's market, if an idea seems cool, trivial matters like reliable products are irrelevant.

That's why you see Cisco's stock performing like it does. Or why QCOM stock goes up 50% based upon an analyst report that assumes that half the people in the world will buy a CDMA phone, never mind that about 80% of the people in the world have never used a phone. Or why AMZN can continue to sell dollar bills for 90½ and nobody care.

Hey, I admit I don't get it. That's why I'm not shorting those stocks, either. But it will be unfortunate for INTC stockholders if that bubble bursts, because INTC will get taken down in sympathy. The difference, of course, is that INTC will come back.
