Mani and thread; I just got PM'd by K75; apparently the lastest issue of Maximumpc is saying that GTW may still go with the Athlon. The post below is from raging bull. I will try to find a link to Maximumpc.

Gateway Does Athlon

Maximumpc Feb 2000 edition just hit my doorstep today and to my suprise on page 18.

Headline

Gateway Does Athlon

News

Backtracking on plan to drop AMD from its lineup, Gateway pitched a surprise PC lineup this Christmas that included AMD's hot Athlon CPU.

Details

Gateway previous said that for "business reason," it would drop AMD from its lineup, in favor of Intel.

Their Spin

Gateway says it picked Athlon up for "business reasons."

Our Take

With Intel unable to make enought 733 Mhz P-III's to meet demand, it's no surprise that

Gateway opted to sell both 750Mhz and 800Mhz Athlons.
