Then they say we are entering into the Sabbath or the Millennium now! ( 1000 years ) The statement as you are likely using it is not literal but one of awakening the reader to the fact that to God time is nothing. However as you have very cleverly pointed out that there is a scripture thats says a "day" to God is not as it is to US. However even after God created the Sun and moon look: Gen 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. YOu may try to see "larger days" prior to the Sun and moon dividing the 24 hours into day and night. look: 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. To Rule is to order and decide concerning.... 24 hrs This line kills the "elongated day theory" Gen 1:19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. Chris you may ask 'why' dopes that kill the theory... I may say this or that but look: Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. Genesis 1:13 And the evening and the morning were the third day. First,second, third, indeed all of the "days" were addressed in the same terms " Morning and Night" There was still day and night even if you believe the Light was as in Rev. There is no material change in the "measurement: because there can be proven no material change in the term of description! Also ..before you think I would merely put this forth and make my own rules of Exegesis SEE How God Himself looks back at the Creation and asks us to.... Exodus 16:26 Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. God used 6 literal days to teach the children of Israel to remember His Sabbath... and 1 literal day to not gather manna... but look even closer: Ex 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Here for men to make the day of creation less than literal and more than 24 hours they must do this... Six (literal) Days shall you work... Because Six ( figurative ) days did I work. Also even if men could try and say that it is "alright" for God to compare apple with oranges to teach "principle" They are still stuck with the LITERAL DAYS after the sun and moon are made! So it gets worse .. ( I know I like to play these things up .. it is my pay for typing ) ... Six uniform and literal days shalt my elect work ======= BECAUSE ======= I worked 4 big figurative days and 2 literal ones. It is just silly... Why is it men do not accept at face value that God did indeed work 6 days and rest 1 and the MOrning and Evening divided what was a day even as now.... They cannot believe God created such wonders in just 6 days because they as do we all see God as too small! The very God to whom we admit that 1000 years nay rather 1,000,000 years is but a day to Him will not believe. There were two young boys one day speaking with each other. One was a Christian lad the other was just learning. The first said God took 6 days to make the earth and all that in them is. That is what my Mom says. The second says WOW.. How come He took so long? God often point to how "reliable and steady He is by how His own creation works like "Clock Work" If God Himself brags about how steady things are and will be why do we doubt the first 3 days? Jeremiah 31:35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Chris...do you know why every man who looks into the Sabbath Laws and Lord's Day must bend the knee? God gave man the Sabbath before Sin entered the world. Everything God gave Man before the Fall is intended in a Perfect World because God created the world in perfection. Gen 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, was very good. the evening and the morning were the sixth day. God gave man what are called " Creation Ordinances " Marriage which Rome condemns for priests God calls Good! Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. God ordained Work before the fall.. keeping the Garden. Work is not a curse for God called Adam to work 6 days before the fall. God CURSED man work but work was not the curse. Child Bearing.. was given ( though they never stood long enough to have one prior to the fall ) Look at the curse: Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. God cursed child bearing but childbearing is clearly a blessing in scripture! Knowledge and language -- Adam gave names to all the animals before Eve was created. The first language from man's origin and science for all you biologists out there. Adam was ordained to keep the garden (work) and to name aniamls ( learn and study God's order and creation ) and to commune and know God ( sabbath ) rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. God Himself ceased from creating and working to enjoy all that He had made and Blessed Blessing even the 7TH Day forever! He came to enjoy Adam and Eve whom He had created on that Day.. In fact to be the First full day of Adam and Eve's lives but when God got there Adam was not interested at all.... John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. Same story in the Old Testament: Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
