You make me feel young, Christine. I arrived at my opinionated (and correct) opinions a mere 25 years ago. And I agree, it's a wonder to pick up a book you read then that helped form you and find it to be new again after the thoughts have become a part of yourself, the source subliminal and lodged in an ancient passageway of your brain.

I don't not own a knife for any reason other than cheapness, I reckon. I look at the prices and choke. But I really do want to cook myself a steak one of these nights and they are so unseamly to eat by picking up and ripping a chunk off of 'em. Even I have my standards of civility.

The scatter? I had them around the farm for awhile. I raised them. Or more to the point, I killed them. I sold a few to a Muslim gentleman who slaughtered them on the spot. It was a religious thing and had to be done a certain way. Pretty cool and we had a great talk. The rest died from worms and such. I learned alot about dead things and the bugs that come by the thousands and what happens to a dead thing after a day or more in the hot, summer Alabama sun. Pretty gross. Sort of shot thoughts of sex and sheep for me. I now do not like sheep and am utterly over raising animals. Give me a horse and a dog and wide-open spaces and leave the cows and sheep on someone else's ranch.
