Thomas, your partial statement "but at the same time, LOR carries a hefty debt load and has a bunch of underperforming assets (a "minus" in the RV equation)" packs quite a wallop. It seems to me we are in a phase of the stock market--and will be until the Fed moves in February--in which stocks with 'a hefty debt load' will be taken out behind the woodshed and you know what. If you add to that the simple fact, [note: fact], that Mr. Schwartz has missed several milestones and a number of institutional investors have voted with their feet, you get LOR selling at a deep discount to G*.
As Reagan's very clear and I believe accurate analysis has shown, the disparity in price between the two doesn't make much math sense, but debt and disappointment round out the picture. Or at least so I think.
If true, I would anticipate continued weakness in LOR at least through January or until the interest rate environment becomes clearer. I hate to lose Bernard Levy as a contributor to this board, but suspect this type of thinking may have lead to his decision to take advantage of last week's spike.
I continue to believe that Bernard Schwartz will stare these very formidable obstacles down and that LOR/G* will emerge as the pre-eminent satellite power--but there are more than a few bumps left before that becomes a reality. best, mike doyle

Thomas, I agree with your assessment, and in my personal investing I have only put money into LOR.

Actually, I am interested in LOR only because I believe G* will succeed; however, if I am wrong and G* does fail, I think that LOR will still be worth something, so at least a part of my investment will survive.

G* equity, on the other hand, could become essentially worthless so that all of an investment in GSTRF could be lost if Globalstar is not a financial success.
