Lee -
IDC does not separate North America from US market - there is so much more business in US than Canada that there is no reason to rub it in... Canada represents less than 10% of the overall NA market. The numbers discussed have always reflected total NA, there is no US only data that I know about except for private studies.

Remember that this is Consumer PCs, not PCs overall or commercial PCs. CPQ has a substantial advantage in that market and more share than the next 2 combined (which in 3Q were HP and IBM). DELL was hardly on the radar screen in 3Q, not in the top 4. The consumer business is currently dominated by retail sales (more than 80%). But overall, Consumer PCs represent only about 30% of all units and about 20% of all PC revenues.

BTW agree with both the wit and substance on Jim Kelley's posts, although sometimes I have a hard time distinguishing what is intended as humor... <gg>
