Very interesting to see the divergence in DSS (sliding) vs HDD strengthening. Back when I bought pre-spin-off (if you can call it that)I always intended to eventually sell HDD and keep the DSS gem. Apparantly my belief in the strength in the market of DSS was misguided!

Meanwhile Z's EXBT continues to move up. Tome to bail on DSS or double down?

Mistah Z. I called Quantum last year (December) to get a clarification about the time-frame for the qual units and to see if the schedule had changed. Quantum said the qualification units were being sent out in December. With that information it seems hard to believe that Compaq could have qualified the drive in November since no qual units were shipped (in theory) until last month. So, it is highly likely that you are correct that Compaq did not qualify SDLT and instead just made a fancy endorsement in that PR piece from November. The Bear Stearns analyst appears wrong in his statement that Compaq qualified SDLT. Of course, we know that Bear Stearns no longer covers the tracking issues any more so their analyst Shaw Wu won't have to be heard from on the next conference call. That's nice to know since I thought he was lacking on the last conf call. To clarify, it seems that there are endorsements for SDLT but no qualifications yet.
