RESEARCH ALERT -Lehman sees online broker shrs up
NEW YORK, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Shares of online brokerages such as E*Trade Group Inc. (NasdaqNM:EGRP - news) and AmeriTrade Holding Corp. (NasdaqNM:AMTD - news) are poised to rise on heavy stock trading volumes, investment bank Lehman Brothers said in a research note on Tuesday.

-- Analyst Richard Repetto expected online brokers to report better-than-expected earnings for the quarter ended Dec. 31, in part because trading volumes across the nation's exchanges reached record levels in December.

-- As a result, shares of E*Trade, AmeriTrade and DLJdirect Inc. (NYSE:DIR - news) ''could move up sharply in the near term,'' Repetto said.

-- Analyst decreased loss estimates for AmeriTrade and DLJdirect by one penny a share to a loss of 12 cents a share and 6 cents a share, respectively.

-- E*Trade up 1-1/8 to 29-3/16, AmeriTrade up 11/16 to 24-1/4 and DLJdirect flat at 13-11/16 in early morning trading.

Hey there,

Just lost all your gains for the day and then some. What did I say about shorting at the open and EGRP closing lower in the afternoon?

So who shot too early, my friend?

To pick a quote that will no doubt go down as one of the better articulated quotes this board has heard (that I believe you coined):
" it looks like you blew your wad too early again"

EGRP printing green all morning 28+ :-)

Maybe tomorrow you'll have your wad.
Perhaps on Thursday?
Can I recommend a great trading stock named Pfizer you could "short"?
It sounds like you are most familiar with their products. :-)
