I met my little Birkenstock friend at Black Oak Books (if I remember right). If you can meet someone like THAT you'll hear all sorts of new things. I don't remember EVERYTHING she said (but she was a big fan of revolutionaries, like Che- which was funny considering how into female power she was, but as I never got to actually say anything I was never able to put this interesting thought of mine out there)but I remember lots of talk about genital politics- which I of course immediately turned into a mental image of penises at podiums on TV- a penile debate, it's so much harder to imagine a clitoris running for office.

Maybe THAT is the whole problem of women! We don't have imposing external genitalia- except for breasts- but they are not "real" genitalia, so they don't count. Well NOW I'm thinking all this- I could have really impressed that Birkenstock gal if I'd said THIS to HER. Or maybe she said stuff like this and I am merely thinking these are my thoughts. She did go on and on for what seemed like FOREVER. And she was standing too close to me- I like personal space, I hate it when people move in on me, and I was backed up against a bookshelf.

Oh dear- I should have paid more attention. I never meet people like that now. Which is probably good because my tolerance for that sort of things has gone down a bit.
