I can stand my ground if I am REALLY thinking about it- but it is very uncomfortable for me. It requires great will power. Just like it does to hug people back- I am not a huggy person, or a touchy person- so when people hug or touch me - especially people I don't KNOW all that well, my desire is to flinch or draw back, which I have had to learn to fight somewhat, because the huggy and touchy people get offended if you do that. I think rampant hugging and touching is aggressive, but there isn't a whole lot I can do about it. Maybe it's worse in California.
