Please don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of George Gilder. It's because of him that I got into Qualcomm at under $8 and Uniphase below $14, and I am and will be eternally grateful.

My reason for the question about growth rates is to clarify whether he sees internet traffic growth slowing down from just last year, or whether the earlier quotes were really the high end of a range, as in the interview.

I agree with you that even so sage a prognosticator as George has been does not see the future in decimal point detail, nor does he have to to be immensely useful. However, if the market (even only the most exuberant fraction who trust his judgement) has been basing its expectations of the bandwidth bunch on one growth rate, and now he postulates a reduced rate up to 1,000 times slower, then that may indeed have a significant impact on at least those ultrahigh flyers.
