The best stocks are the only indication of how serious a down turn we might have. Can't tell that in a day, but the likes of GE, AMZN, AOL, SUNW and others don't look too good at this point.

I disagree. This market went up on a mania fueled by the fed's liquidity. It can go down just as fast without the fed's support.
Watch the treasury and you'll know where the market is headed.

5day TRIN is giving a BUY signal (any TRIN over 172 will signal a close for today). And if so, any weak TRIN tmo (+84) will continue to signal a BUY.

Dennis, I came over to post the above, but I agree w/ you. This is still a buying opp. It will take a lot for 1400SPX and 11000DJIA to break significantly.
As a matter of fact, IMHO 3500NDX is pretty strong as well.
(3600 looks good too, but my money is on 3500 support)
