Sounds like NCDI (like GTW & IBM) had a Y2K related hardware sales slowdown. This could be a good buying opportunity, for longer term investors, if the stock reopens much lower on today's news:

(COMTEX) B: NCD to Report Net Loss for 1999's 4th Quarter
B: NCD to Report Net Loss for 1999's 4th Quarter

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan 6, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Network
Computing Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: NCDI) said today that revenues for the
fourth quarter were lower than expectations, and that the company will
post a net loss in excess of $2 million for the quarter.

In making the announcement this morning, Rudolph G. Morin, president
and chief executive officer, expressed disappointment about NCD's
performance. "While the quarter included modest sales growth of NCD
ThinSTAR Windows-based terminals and the innovative NCD ThinPATH
software we introduced and began shipping during 1999, we had
unexpectedly weak sales of our branded network computers and were
unable to offset the anticipated near-elimination of shipments of OEM
hardware," he said.

Mr. Morin estimated that fourth quarter revenues would be down about
15% from the third quarter ended September 30, 1999. For that period,
NCD posted revenues of $29.3 million and a net loss of $7.4 million,
including a $6.9 million write off for the value of the company's tax
loss carryforwards that were shown on its balance sheet. In 1998's
fourth quarter, NCD reported revenues of $26.2 million and a net loss
of $5.6 million.

Mr. Morin, who became NCD's CEO last fall, said: "We began the fourth
quarter with good momentum and an optimistic outlook. But the results
did not materialize as the quarter ended. We are especially displeased
that the quarter's results - including some Y2K-related market
uncertainty - masked the progress we made last year and continue to
make as we begin 2000."

"Looking ahead," Mr. Morin said, "we will report our audited 1999
year-end results in mid-February. At that time, we will also report on
the progress we are making to transform NCD into a leadership company
serving growing markets for software to manage multi-user enterprise
applications, easy access terminals for corporate intranets and
advanced solutions serving application service providers."
