>> this is the day of all days that we announce at my company my imminent retirement.

CONGRATULATIONS, MERLIN!!! Now you can correct me 7/24 <gg>.

If anyone ever deserved to make enough to earn their freedom, it's you. Your generosity in patiently teaching us all the fundamentals of Gorilla gaming has touched all of our lives. I won't let a little correction dampen my joy for you.

With sincere admiration,
uf

Congratulations Mike. It is absolutely unbelievable how many people have been able to change their lives as a result of GG.

OOPS!! What about that fortune we all lost today??? Hope it doesn't force you to work at a 7-11.

Good luck,

Len

Ah the market was just trying to scare you into rescinding your decision to retire.
Did it succeed?
:o)

What on earth happened today to spook the markets so?
Is this our "afraid of a Feb spike" ahead of time? And is the market disappointed for some reason that AG was reappointed? I thought the markets liked him?

Back in margin...I exercised one set of calls to buy the Q at 75 and a few others to buy it at 125. Now I finally have "enough" if there is such a thing.

Congratulations Mike!
It's only right that the Gorilla Gamer extraordinair should be on safari fulltime.

Mike: Congratulations. Brings joy to this old retired guy's eyes. And yes, retirement is an opportunity.

Much as I have enjoyed and learned from you over these many years on the Fool/Aol and here, I look forward to the chance to gain even more from you now that you will have a little more flexibility with time.

What will perhaps surprise you most will be how little "free" time you have, but how useful it is to be able to concentrate on more that really interests you.

Great news.

Respect, and best as always.

Great news, Mike. How incredibly fortunate you and your family are to be able to have this experience. Pat yourself on the back for making it happen. (My initial reaction to the announcement was to pull my fist and whisper Yesssssssss! as I realized he's gonna have more time for the GG!!) <g>

Hey Mike,

Another member of the roundtable retires. First King Arthur, then Galahad, now Merlin. It sure is getting lonely out here in the trenches, where some of us still have to work for a living.<ggg>

In all seriousness, I am so much closer to that goal than I was a year ago that I will never be able to give thanks enough to all of my threadmates. All I can say is all the power in the world to you and I salute each and everyone of you.

One request Merlin. Stop being so prophetic!!!!!

Perceval

Okay, I think we are overlooking a major important thing here, it's time to start two new portfolios. In one, will be "The GG Retirement Portfolio" in which we have Unc Frank, Downsouth, Mike Buckley and whomever else; and then we also have "The GG Retirement Watch and Wait Portfolio" in which snowballs on this thread hope to become gorillas--which is some kind of strange transmogrification that rarely happens in naturebut often in the cyberworld--and retire.

Before I start reading the 200 messages that I came back to

I just returned from 3 weeks in Europe a few days ago, and came back to over 1500 messages! Thanks to jet lag, I woke up at 3 am this morning and have gotten through most of them.(If we could just reduce the ratio of substantive posts on this thread, I could have read through them much sooner. Thanks to the guy from Van Halen who keeps predicting the end of the world, I was able to skip some posts!). It took me two and a half hours to get to your imminent retirement! Congratulations! And a belated Happy New Year to all.

JB

p.s. I see that Qualcomm did pretty well while I was gone.
