Monday January 10, 8:35 am Eastern Time Company Press Release The New Evolution in Roofing: URECOATS 100-TM- Transcends the Roofing Industry Product May Play a Key Role in Reducing Damages Due to Environmental and Man Made Disasters POMPANO BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 10, 2000--Urecoats Industries Inc. (OTCBB:UREC-news), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Urecoats International, Inc., a developer of roofing and sealant products today announced new utilization for URECOATS 100(TM), an environmentally useful Rubber Sealant Membrane (RSM)(TM) formulated to revolutionize the $28 billion dollar roofing industry. Currently the Company, with the URECOATS 100(TM) formulation, is in discussion with the United States Military, the National Hurricane Center, the Earthquake Engineering Research Center and various independent testing laboratories for its potential concrete containment and structural integrity reinforcement capabilities. The structural integrity reinforcement aspects come in the way of coverage, adhesion and ''containment'' of the sprayed substrate. It appears that URECOATS 100(TM) could play a key role in minimizing damages to structures from hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural and man made disasters. URECOATS 100(TM) is a rapidly curing, long lasting, seamless Rubber Sealant Membrane that is designed to be sprayed on existing substrates using a patent applied application technology currently in final testing for mass distribution this year. The RSM(TM) is an ultra high quality modified urethane fluid applied type rubber substance that will not allow water penetration and protects the surface to which it is applied from natural weathering, acid rain and wind uplift to name a few. It is made from a proprietary patent pending formula, comprised of urethanes, crumb rubber from recycled tires and other additives. These characteristics give the product greater strength, flexibility, elasticity and a higher degree of resistance to chemicals and moisture than other coatings and sealants in the marketplace today. Ponswamy Rajalingam, Ph.D., the Company's Chief Chemist and Inventor of the URECOATS 100(TM) formula, explained, ''The original formula's design was predicated on building upon the strongest properties of existing roofing systems in practice today and integrating new interpenetrating chemical technologies to incorporate a recycled material into the composition. After developing the formulation, it has become apparent that there are many more potential uses for the formulation other than roofing.'' The URECOATS 100(TM) product can be applied over flat surfaces, vertical surfaces and seal corner joints much better than conventional flashing methods. URECOATS 100(TM) is compatible with concrete, metal, aluminum, wood, and various other surfaces both man made and organic. With the product being a complete vapor barrier the application to steel could possibly enhance longevity and deter rust and corrosion (i.e., steel bridge repair and restoration). URECOATS 100(TM) is also undergoing testing for underground waterproofing use. ''The owners and investors must be ecstatic about this product because there is a great opportunity for using this type of material not only for roofing but we feel sure that with further research and testing it can have an impact in other areas of the construction industry,'' Shirad Ali, General Manager, Independent Roof Testing of South Florida Inc. The Company, under the direction of its second lead Chemist, R. Uma Umarani, Ph.D. has also been developing another product known as URESEAL 200(TM). URESEAL 200(TM) has been formulated as a pavement sealer that can be applied to commercial parking lots. URESEAL 200(TM), a black enriched formulation, in lab studies has been found to have a protective lifespan of 6 to 10 years or more. Urecoats Industries Inc. is based in Pompano Beach, Florida.
